Pollution Monitoring

Effective environmental protection requires constant vigilance. At the Asanteman Anti-Pollution Coalition (AAPC), we understand that we cannot solve a crisis we cannot see. Our Pollution Monitoring initiative transforms everyday citizens into active environmental watchdogs. Operating from our headquarters in Konongo and extending throughout Asanteman, we empower local residents, market women, and youth to keep a watchful eye on our shared public spaces, ensuring that environmental offenses are swiftly identified, documented, and addressed before they escalate into health hazards.

The core of our monitoring work involves tracking the most severe threats to our communities: illegal dumping in unauthorized areas, the toxic open burning of plastics, and the dangerous silting of vital drainage systems. Rather than waiting for a flood or a disease outbreak to unfold, our network of community volunteers proactively patrols known pollution hotspots. Armed with mobile phones and a deep commitment to their neighborhoods, they document infractions in real-time. This grassroots surveillance ensures that our lorry parks, central markets, and residential zones remain under protective, community-led observation.

"True environmental protection begins with collective vigilance. By actively monitoring and reporting pollution, we ensure that environmental crimes can no longer hide in the shadows of our communities."

Information without action is meaningless. When our monitors identify a choked drain threatening to cause floods, or spot unauthorized waste burning that poisons our air, this critical intelligence is immediately channeled to our central team. We then act as a vital bridge, escalating these verified reports to the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly Task Force, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Fire Service. This structured, data-driven approach not only guarantees swift intervention by law enforcement but also helps authorities map out and permanently resolve chronic pollution hotspots across Asanteman.

We need your eyes and your voice to protect Asanteman. Every citizen has a constitutional and moral duty to safeguard our environment. If you witness illegal dumping, open burning, or spot a blocked drain in your neighborhood, do not remain silent. Become an AAPC pollution monitor today by securely reporting these incidents to our team. Please take a clear photo, note the exact location, and send the details to us. Together, we can build an airtight monitoring network that holds polluters accountable and keeps our cities clean. Report incidents directly at aapcantipollutionghana@gmail.com.
